Welcome to the 7th episode of “How Do You Say This in Korean?”! This is a weekly segment, published every Friday, where teacher 경화 (Kyung-hwa) will be joined by a co-host of her choice each week to answer some listener questions. The questions we will be answering in this series are mainly about how to say certain things in Korean.

How do you say “I’m addicted to Korean dramas.” in Korean?
= 한국 드라마에 중독됐어요.
[han-guk deu-ra-ma-e jung-dok-dwae-sseo-yo.]

How do you say “I did nothing wrong. This is all your fault!” in Korean?
= 나는 잘못한 게 (하나도) 없어. [na-neun jal-mo-tan ge (ha-na-do) eop-sseo.]
이게 다 너 때문이야. / 이건 다 네 잘못이야.
[i-ge da neo ttae-mu-ni-ya. / [i-geon da ne jal-mo-si-ya.]

How do you say “Do you speak English?” in Korean?
= 영어 할 줄 알아요?
[yeong-eo hal jul a-ra-yo?]

How do you say “I want to learn the Korean language.” in Korean?
= (저는) 한국어 배우고 싶어요.
[(jeo-neun) han-gu-geo bae-u-go si-peo-yo.]

How do you say “Hello. Nice to meet you!” in Korean?
= 안녕하세요. 만나서 반가워요!
[an-nyeong-ha-se-yo. man-na-seo ban-ga-wo-yo!]

How do you say “I’m busy.” in Korean?
= 바빠요. [ba-ppa-yo.]

How do you say “わかりました。” in Korean?
= 알겠습니다. / 알겠어요.
[al-ge-sseum-ni-da.] / [al-ge-sseo-yo.]

How do you say “I want to go to Korea.” in Korean?
= 한국에 가고 싶어요.
[han-gu-ge ga-go si-peo-yo.]

How do you say “The weather today is very cold. The weather today is so hot.” in Korean?
= 오늘 날씨 정말/너무 추워요. 오늘 날씨 정말/너무 더워요.
[o-neul nal-ssi jeong-mal/neo-mu chu-wo-yo. o-neul nal-ssi jeong-mal/neo-mu deo-wo-yo.]

    안녕하세요? 저는 루마니아 사람 이에요. 여기서 한국어 배워요. 우리 선생님께서 정말 친절한 사람 입니다. 🙂 I have a question too. How do you say “My phone needs to be fixed.” in korean ?

    • My phone needs to be fixed.
      > 제 전화기는 수리해야 돼요.

      Normally, I would say “제 전화기는 고장났어요” which means “My phone is out of order”.

    Hello Hyunwoo Sun,

    I recently found out that the most frequently used words in language are: (see below)
    I learned that these words make up 60% of any language. I am trying to learn Korean and was wondering if you could translate these and write them out in hangul. I know this is a tedious task so maybe you could make a game out of it or get others to contribute. I think this would be a great benefit to everyone if you put this on your site.
