Bibimchat: One-stop Korean Listening Source

About this course

โ€œBibimchat: One-stop Korean Listening Sourceโ€ is a video course where you can listen to native speakers conversing in natural Korean.

Why is it called โ€˜Bibimchatโ€™?

It is a new word we made for this course! Bibimchat is the combination of โ€œBibimโ€, which is from โ€œBibimbap(a Korean dish full of various fresh vegetables)โ€, and โ€œchatโ€. As you can try many different vegetables with that one dish - Bibimbap, the teachers talk about various topics in this course. From Korean culture to food, beauty, education, dating, and even to money, you can learn about many different aspects of Korea in this one course while improving your listening skills!

  1. Kinsey B,

    Hi TTMIK Team!
Are there plans to release RSS feeds for paying users to access the paid courses outside of the website (ie Spotify, Apple Podcasts)?

  2. John Chae,

    Hi TTMIK team!
Just wanted to say thank you for the bibimchat series. It’s been great!
I especially like how it allows me to kill two birds with one stone (learn the language as well as learn the culture)

    • Talk To Me In Korean,

Thank you very much for your 5-star review! ๐Ÿคฉ

  3. kyriesam,

Hello TTMIK Team! I have listened to BIBIMCHAT and IYAGI a lot. I would want to listen to them through out the day as kind of a Passive Listening/Immersion activity to improve my listening but I can’t. As the extra steps of unlocking my phone, clicking the next lesson, wait for it to load, and then click the play button again hinders me down. I wish there was a mechanic on the website to have the next lesson play automatically.

    • Talk To Me In Korean,

Thank you for taking the “์ด์•ผ๊ธฐ” course and “๋น„๋น”์ฑ—” course. We plan to add an automatic playback feature to these two courses, like the core grammar course. Please wait a bit for the update! ๐Ÿ˜„

    • Shibole,

Strongly agree with this! Most of my learning takes place in the car and I canโ€™t really be changing lessons on my phone while driving! Thanks for the amazing content as always!

  4. Byrdperson,

Copyright infringement is an issue for an intellectual property. However, screen recording and pdf readers are easy ways around it for people willing to do intellectual theft. Discontinuing pdfs and mps3s (amazing tools) really hinders us who pay for the subscription.

    • Matt,

People who paid for a year’s subscription should be refunded the months between PDFs and mp3s being removed and an adequate replacement being implemented. I for one wouldn’t have even subscribed if I knew they were going to be taken away.

    • Talk To Me In Korean,

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience our decision may have caused. We understand the importance of PDFs and MP3s for your learning experience, and we’re actively exploring alternative solutions to ensure you have convenient access to our lessons. We appreciate your understanding and patience.

  5. Lucila Baravalle,

ttmik is the only website out there that has actually useful and fun korean language material. Especially for the more advanced students, its very hard to find korean language content to level up! But this course is perfect for that and also not boring at all like other websites. living in korea has been so much easier since learning with ttmik and i can make friends and have conversations with koreans thanks to this website, thank you so much!!

I am unable to download the PDF for this series, is this expected? I have seen that PDF download button is missing even on the Iyagi lesson.

    • Talk To Me In Korean,

Please note that we made some changes, and we have decided to discontinue supporting PDF and MP3 downloads due to copyright infringement. Thank you for your understanding!

  7. Thai,

Please continue this series , I just paid to learn the course but there is no new video since 4 month T_T

  13. Emma Scott,

Please keep this series going, it’s the best! I’m still beginner level but using these lessons to listen over and over again at different speeds, shadowing as you speak and using the transcript to recognise patterns in speech and to learn phrases has been the most effective and useful thing in my language learning so far. I would say to anyone who is beginner level not to be intimidated by more advance content like this as it is a good way to get used to the sound of the language and patterns in speech – also really good way to hear grammar/words in context – I think the best method to language learning is to get your listening comprehension really good before you attempt to speak. Thanks TTMIK!!

    • Talk To Me In Korean,

Thank you for your constructive feedback, and we hope you continue to enjoy studying Korean with us โ˜บ๏ธ

  14. Robert Yan,

In lesson 76, the vocabulary list lists ์˜์›… as hero, heroin. It should be “heroine” like the female hero, not “heroin” like the drug. =)

    • Talk To Me In Korean,

Thank you for the heads up!

  15. Li Wen,

    Hi TTMIK,
Bibimchat is only 75 lessons? Or there will be more lessons uploaded weekly? Monthly? This course is very suitable for me. Thanks!

    • Talk To Me In Korean,

      Hi,

We still release new lessons for this course, and we post one new episode each week!

  16. Glenn Klepic,

Yep, me too. The lessons for Bibimchat are blocked for me as well. It was already even “added” on my course list and is now off of that !!!

    • Talk To Me In Korean,

  22. Yunshan Xu,

Hello! I have been listening to the bibimchat podcast on Spotify for a while and I really like how you upload some episodes on there because it makes it so much easier to practice korean listening and thank you so much for that.
I was also wondering if you can upload more episodes to Spotify? For example, lesson 1 and lesson 6 are not available on Spotify.
    Thanks again!

    • Talk To Me In Korean,

Thank you for your feedback ๐Ÿ™‚
Please note that not all lessons are available on Spotify. However, you have full access to our premium courses as you are a premium member!

  23. Sarah,

Hello! I noticed I struggle more studying with the Bibimchat course than the intermediate Iyagi’s one. I feel less confident about my language learning progress because I can’t really see if it’s due to my lack of abilities or if it’s because the Bibimchat course is an higher level learning material.
I look forward to learning more with TTMIK ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Talk To Me In Korean,

Thank you for your feedback! As this course covers all kinds of topics from lighthearted ones to social issues, you might feel the course is more challenging than the Iyagi course. It is totally normal that you feel that way. Don’t worry, you are doing great!

    • Suzie,

I totally agree with you, Sarah. Just brought this up on the discord actually.

    • Talk To Me In Korean,

It is totally understandable that you feel that way as the course covers various topics. We hope you continue to enjoy studying Korean with us! ๐Ÿ™‚

  24. Hani,

hello TTMIK, i hope you are all well.
i am studying with bibimchat for some time and on the 10th lesson, i write down the vocabulary/word section for better memory and review and they are the best for an advanced student. thank you guys for the effort. i was thinking of learning French language and TTMIK popped up in my mind, what if they could teach me French like they taught me Korean, anyway that is how best i believe TTMIK. THANK YOU GUYS ALOT.

    • Talk To Me In Korean,

      Thank you!

  25. Yunshan Xu,

    Hello! Really like the material!!
btw, are there pdf version of the transcripts? Would like to like a pdf to print out and write notes on!

    • Talk To Me In Korean,

      Thank you!
You can use the lesson notes and study with them! ๐Ÿ™‚
