So i started level 2 today and I noticed something in the first lesson while conjugating verb 하다 in the future tense it was 하+ㄹ거예요 and the “예” became 에 :할거에요.
Can you please tell if it’s right or wrong because I think we should add ㄹ거예요 without changing nothing.
안녕하세요! I need a little clarification about when to use 는 것 as spoken about in level 2 lesson 19. So, roughly ‘나는 수영하는 것을 좋아한다’ is translated to I like to swim instead of I like swimming? Since I’m guessing that 수영하는 것 means ‘to swim’. Same goes with ‘저는 먹는 것을 좋아합니다’ which should roughly translate to ‘I like to eat’, right? I’m a little confused since it’s translated to ‘I like swimming’ or ‘I like eating’
I always thought of 는 것 as like adding ing on the end of a verb in English as 수영하는 것 is the act of swimming, swimming. if you was to say to swim it would just be 수영하다. so 나는 수영하는 것을 좋아한다 is I like swimming. for 저는 먹는 것을 좋아합니다 its also the same as 먹는 것 is the act of eating, eating, the thing you eat, what you eat so again that sentence would translate to I like eating which in English is technically the same as I like to eat or I like to swim. hope this helped.

Hi! In level 2 lesson 9 there is a sentence which you translated it as “I ate everything. There are three left.” Is this how you write it in Hangul? (i am pretty sure there is a mistake)

However, I’m a little bit stuck on two of the sample sentences from lesson 4.
1. 저는월요일에영화를봤어요. Why was 에 added after monday in this sentence?
2. 어제는지짜신나는금요리이었어요. What verb is being modified to past tense in “이었어요”?

For the first one, 에 is used to mark the time. So if you were to say “I studied at 4 o’clock” it becomes “내가 4 시에 공부했어요.” You put 에 after the time to mark it. And the same thing applies to days.
And for the second question the verb being conjugated is 이다.

1. 에 translates to, “on/to”. In this sentence, the speaker is saying that they watched the movie /on/ Monday, that’s why it’s placed after Monday 😀

I need some help, lol. I’m so confused right now. I used to study from another website, then I moved to TTMIK. In that website I had already studied the different korean honorifics?, and from what I understood, you add -겠어요 to talk about the future (polite speech), but here they say you have to add -ㄹ/을 거예요. I’m so confused! What are the differences? 🙁
Im not fluent in Korean or anything but I’ve been studying for a year or so so I’m not 100% sure on this. However I know that Verb stem + ㄹ/을 거예요. is a more general, basic and simple form or experssing in future tense and is more common from my experience, however it could be just plain polite in some contexts but you can add the hourific suffix -시- or use the formal or polite term of the verb to alter the overall expression of the sentence in terms of formalness and politeness. And although -겠 can be used to express future tense in specific cases for example when you are assuming a possible future event or what you are intending to do in the near future, but it is often just used in fixed expression such as (알겠습니다, 모르겠습니다…) and you cna check out Level 6 Lesson 16 to find out more about this suffix. (I hope this was accurate if not then I apologise. Wish this will help you figure out your query!!😁😁😁)

TTMIK 안녕하세요! In Level 2, Lesson 21, the last example given is ‘저는 책을 읽는 것보다 사는 것을 더 좋아해요.’, would the sentence ‘저는 사는 것을 책을 읽는 것보다 더 좋아해요.’ be also considered as correct? 🙂

Yeap. Both are correct!
I was wondering that too, I thought there was a mistake in the PDF, as it seemed translated the other way around.
They are both correct and mean the same. They are just written in different orders.

-에 is not a topic marker which means it cannot be attached to a topic.
ex) 월요일은 길다 (Monday is long)
ex) 월요일에 파티를 하자 (Let’s party on Monday)
