  2. Juli,

Is anything that can specifically help me with tenses? Like past and present and future Iโ€™m still a bit confused on it! Iโ€™m on lesson 22 right now~ so maybe recommend a book or something or a video link explaining? Anything is fine!

    • Talk To Me In Korean,

Thank you for studying with us! Unfortunately, we don’t have the grammar books like English. Our grammar books help you to broad grammar levels step by step instead of just focusing on tenses. However, you can still learn tenses through our grammar books!:)

  3. AlphaGamers !,

Hey, i am doing lesson 7 rn.
But i donโ€™t get this part:

    ์ด๊ฑฐ ์ฑ…์ด์—์š”. [i-geo chae-gi-e-yo.] = This is a book.

In lesson 6 you say the definition is : ์ด๊ฑฐ = this, this one
But i am not sure why you use ๊ฑฐ( in the sentence above)

Because you can only use ์ด for this.

    • AlphaGamers !,

Thanks i get it now ๐Ÿ˜€

    • Oliver,

The direct translation is “This THING(๊ฐ€) is a book.”

It is used to specify what the subject is you’re talking about. If you say “this book is good” – ์ด ์ฑ… ์ข‹์•„์š” – then you obviously don’t need it because you’re using “book” as the proper subject.

    • Michael Jeff Achumbre,

Hi, as what i’ve understood ๊ฑฐ is “thing” so when you say ์ด๊ฑฐ is simply “this thing” or “this one”. Same goes for ๊ทธ๊ฑฐ “that thing” or “that one” and ์ €๊ฑฐ “that thing (over there)” or “that one (over there)”. Hope that helps. ๐Ÿ˜

    • Shrimi Verma,

์ด is used for sentences like โ€œthis coffee is deliciousโ€. Here, ์ด is used as a modifier and NOT as a pronoun.
์ด๊ฑฐ is used to point at an object, and is used in sentences like โ€œthis is coffeeโ€. Therefore, ์ด๊ฑฐ is used as a pronoun.

Thank you TTMIK team for putting all of this together so nicely for all of the non Korean speakers around the world. No offense Hyunwoo Sun, I do appreciate how fluent you are at English and how awesome you are at explaining just about everything, but OMG, it’s an absolute pleasure, if not sometimes a distraction listening to Kyeong-Eun Choi’s voice, and I’m quite sure she has millions of other admirers worldwide : ), I’m not selfish.

  21. Catherine ,

I cannot begin to tell how much I love TTMIK. I have been this website as a source for learning Korean for a long time and it never fails to amazes me. They have really helped me get to a level where I feel confident to talk to a Native speaker. They have great teachers and their content is great. Also, they provide so much content for free. Thank you so much for helping me learn. I am trying to learn a different language now and I keep being disappointed that no language site will ever be this good.

    • Talk To Me In Korean,
