Definitely challenging, but I’m thankful for that. TTMIK books in general explain things really well, which is crucial especially in the beginning. I feel like I already know a good amount of basic grammar after completing level 2!

Excellent books! The lessons in the textbok are short so easy to go through. The blog articles are really informative. I really like the variety of exercises in the workbook. I appreciate that a vocabulary and a listening exercise are included for every lesson.
These books are a great way to expand your vocabulary while learning common grammar patterns. The textbooks include some exercises after each lesson, but I personally like to use the workbooks alongside them for extra practice. The exercises in the workbook help me understand and remember what I learned better. I love the fact that the textbooks include cultural blogs, they are all really interesting!
I’m now working through level six, but want to go back and compliment this series in general. The quality of the books themselves is worth noting — the paper!

I have levels 1 ,2, and 3 in the series with workbooks and they are amazing for self study. I have yet to find books in Japanese that are this good. I love the design and how concise they are, I do not feel overwhelmed when reading the text on my own and it’s really nice that I can actively test my knowledge with the workbook.

Finally started with level 2. I’m really excited for what’s to come.
And like always the grammar books are easy to follow and to understand and the workbooks are the cherry on top. The workbooks are so helpful with memorizing the words/grammar and it’s also a way to test yourself to see if you really get it.
No matter what they are great books!
