Really loving the progression of the testing. One issue that I found annoying is around punctuation. I got one answer wrong because I added a “?” at the end, and I go a different one wrong because I didn’t add one at the end. Just a bit confusing. Other than that, this is great 🙂

In the Level 4 review , ‘to be funny’ is translated : The scarier it is, the more fun it is. → 무서울수록 재밌어요. But in the Level 5 review, it is translated 재미있어요…In my dictionary too. Wich one is good?

  Both are fine. 재밌어요 is the shorten form of 재미있어요. So, the shorten form is mostly used when talking or texting friends.

  Im happy you’re enjoying your time! A few tips though: You should write living as 사는데 or 살고 있는데, also it sounds better if you structure the first sentence as follows:한국에서 살고 있어서 한국어를 말해야 돼요. As in because Im living in korea i have to speak korean (you could change it to study instead as well that would sound better). Also you should right find as 찾았고 (Also this verb means to find so if you want to say to look for/ search instead that’s a different verb). Hope you have an amazing day!

Hi!
Just finished this level. It was very interesting. Something that would be great, maybe in the future, would be to make annotations about things that are similar. You already do them sometimes, but more would be good. Like, for example, lessons 4 and 28 have a very similar syllable 지 and it took me a while to understand the different construction. Also, the fact that some words with 아무 are written as one word and others as two words, I almost missed that. Things like that. But anyway, it was still an excellent course. I’m especially grateful for the Sentence Building Drill lessons. And everything you do, really.
I have a question. These lessons are really old and you ask listeners to comment on every episode, but I think the old website was different? There’s no comment section for each individual lesson, so I’m not sure if we’re supposed to do it here or somewhere else… (or maybe you have too many listeners now to correct all sentences?)

  Hi, just letting you know that 말기 is not the correct noun form of the verb 말하다 (to talk). As 하다 is conjugated to 하기, 말하다 is conjugated to 말하기. Happy learning! 🙂

In Lesson 2, it says, “the -(으)ㄹ래요 ending is typically used only in casual settings. You cannot use this verb ending if you are talking to someone with whom you must use formal language.” Can someone explain this? Even though this is in 존댓말, is it because -(으)ㄹ래요 gives off a determined tone and therefore can be a bit rude towards the older person?

  Hi! I had the same question and asked some Korean native speakers if you can use it with strangers and people you don’t know that well, and they answered yes. Although, they might mean the question form “ㄹ래요?”. Anyway, I’m not sure they answer questions here, but you can ask them questions through their twitter account and an email I think.   Hi there, there are 3 different forms to say that, they are : 시겠어요 (Most formal one), 실래요 (less formal than the first, used in daily conversations and (으)ㄹ 래요 (the most informal, used among close friends).

I think there might be an error with your quiz (I hope not). I took the quiz and on question 7, it asks us to change 커피 마실래요? to 반말 which would be 커피 마실래? If you type that in, it says that it’s incorrect? Is that because you don’t want us to use question mark at the end? Let me know if I’m missing something!

  That’s probably because the punctuation is already given in the question. So if the answer has a punctuation, there will be like two question marks! :))

  I think 검은색 is spelled together, but I’m not too sure if you can do it in two different ways or not. Also 됄 것 같아요 should be 될 것 같아요. Other than that, great job👍

  4. space after 다섯. Also not clear what you wanted to say. Now it says ” 5 people knew, but no one will invite”

  hi!! I am a beginner but I think I can help you. First of all, whenever you wanna use the future tense, always write it this way: 을 거예요 (not 거에요). Secondly, whenever you use the people counter, it is 명, and you don’t really have to say 사람들 after it. That’s all I can say, hope it helps and good luck!!

  hii, I’m a beginner too but I hope I can help you. In the word 안녕하세요, you missed the ㄴ and the ㅇ in the second syllable, and in the word 선생님, the first syllable has batchim ㅇ (I used to make the same mistake so don’t worry too much). In the sentence after the first comma, I guess you wanna say “I am not a teacher but…”, in that case that would be 전 선생님 아닌데, (아니다=to not be, actually the verb 않다 is used to transform verbs into their negative forms). Hope it helped!! And remember we all make mistakes, it’s all about practice and time

Hi, I have a question regarding word contractions (lesson 17). I get that you can use them pretty much all the time in daily life speaking, but what about writing? Would shortening the pronouns and topic markers like that be considered rude if included in an email, blog post, website article etc? Are Koreans generally more conservative when it comes to writing style than speech? Thanks in advance, love Level 4 classes! I can really see the progress thanks to you!

  Thank you for your comment that could also be helpful to other learners. On the lesson note, you can see some expressions marked as [casual]. We would recommend you try to use them only in your daily life. ex) 이게, 저게, 난 These can sometimes sound very unnatural in former writings like articles. Reading as many writings as possible will help you understand Korean writing’s natural flow while enormously improving your writing skills. 🙂 Hope you find this helpful.

Hi, this sentence “수영할 줄 알아요?” was in one of the sample conversations in Level 4. I don’t recall ever learning the “할 줄” type of grammar in any of the prior lessons. Will someone please explain this grammar or point me in the right direction?

Sorry if i’m asking too many questions but uhm i really want to know the answer to this. What’s the difference 많이 있어 and 많아요? On what kind of situations should we add 있다 to the verb? I also this in one in song lyrics “남아있던 기억들이” , 남다 is “to remain” right? but in the lyrics it has 있 in it. Is it because its in 던noun modifying form? Sorry i dont if i explained it well. I dont know if you have an explanation for this or i’m just making things complicated hahahah

  Thanks for such a great question ! ^^ 주 has a meaning “do it for someone” For example, “알아주고싶어” means “I wanna know something for you” while “알고싶어” just means “I want to know”. “할게” just means “I’ll do it” while “해줄게” means “I’ll do it for you” . To sum it up, 주 is kind of a nice and kind expression 🙂 Hope this helps.

  Hey, hope I’m not replying too late, I just saw this question after completing the level. As far as I know, none of them is being conjugated, because the conjugated verb is 이다 (“to be”, but different from 있다). So it is saying “재미있는 사람(interesting people)일수록(이다 +ㄹ 수록)(the more they are [interesting]) 좋아요”.

  In the sentence 재미있는 사람일수록 좋아요, 재미있다 is not a verb but an adjective for 사람, 재미있는 사람 means a funny/interesting person . Here it means ‘The funnier the person is, the better”, but if it was 재미있을수록 좋아요, it would mean, the funnier/more interesting, the better. Hope I could help you !

  As I understand it, this makes more sense if you take the alternative interpretation of ‘If you are an interesting person, it’s better’ (as in the final sample sentence in that lesson). Then you can think that the important verb in the construction is 이다 (to be), which is why that’s what’s conjugated rather than 재미있다. I could be wrong though!
