나는 지하철입니다 (I’m a subway train)
What would Seoul citizens’ life be like through the eyes of a subway which travels all around Seoul with them on board?
나는 지하철입니다 is a picture book for both children and adults.
This book describes the life of passengers on the subway line number 2, which tirelessly circulates the Seoul city under and above the ground. It’s written from the perspective of the subway who welcomes everyone on the train and watch them with true affection. You can also get a sneak peak into the stories of the people from all walks of life, who live in the busy city of Seoul.
※ This book is offered through an official partnership with the original publisher.
Unlike other children’s books or picture books out there which contain a lot of words that are barely used in daily life, 나는 지하철입니다 has useful expressions including onomatopoeias and mimetic words that you can use in your day-to-day life right away. You can read it with your kids, but this book makes a good reading material for adults too as it’s not only entertaining but also makes you think.
In the book, there is a sentence that goes, “We are running on the railway with bundles of unseen stories”. You can read each figure’s “unseen stories” in the bonus story book written in their own voices. From polite language to casual language to dialects, each story has its own unique way of speaking from which you can learn colorful Korean.
